Day Five - Magic Kingdom

We had a bit of a lie in this morning and got to the Pop Century Food Court for breakfast at 8.00am and found it much busier than the day before at 7.00am. I had a Pancake Platter, Kev had a Waffle, Freddie had Choc Chip Pancakes and I can’t remember what Tommy had!

The Weather Channel this morning was warning of record breaking cold weather and they were right! It was pretty cold and we were glad of our fleeces. Although we weren’t as wrapped up as the locals who were all in thick winter coats with hats, gloves etc! It was still about 65F though.

Since it wasn’t too hot and we were going to Magic Kingdom we let the boys wear their Captain Hook & Peter Pan outfits that we had brought with us from home.

We headed over to Magic Kingdom and got parked up and on the tram.

It seemed to be really quiet. We decided to take the ferry over to Magic Kingdom rather than the Monorail this time and practically had the boat to ourselves. It might have been warmer on the monorail!

We were through bag check and into the park and the first thing I wanted to do was head to City Hall to find out about meeting Peter Pan & Captain Hook. The lady wrote down the times for me and told me where to go to meet them.

We headed down Main Street stopping for a couple of photos and then headed left and into Adventureland (taking note on the way where Crystal Palace was as we had a lunch reservation here).

We got to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and spotted Captain Hook & Mr Smee outside so we joined the line to meet them. We waited quite a while for this but it was well worth it.

The boys got their autograph books signed and they had photos taken by the photopass photographer. Captain Hook tried to get Tommy to make a hook with his fingers but again he wasn’t too good at it! Freddie did a good Peter Pan pose though!

The Pirates of the Caribbean ride was showing a wait time of 5 minutes so we headed onto this next. It was good fun and we all enjoyed it. The “Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me” song was stuck in my head for ages afterwards!

Next we headed through to Frontierland and headed for Splash Mountain which had no queue whatsoever as I think people thought it was too cold to get wet! Tommy wasn’t big enough so I took Freddie on first of all while Kev waited. Freddie put his raincoat on and I wore my fleece so even if we got wet we wouldn’t be too bad. There was no wait at all although the ride itself does last quite a while. Freddie wasn’t too sure of this at first but soon started to enjoy it. We didn’t get too wet at all and he was all excited coming off the ride ready to go on again with Kev! I think he gave Kev a running commentary of what was going to happen next the whole way round. I found a little play area for the under 40” kids which I took Tommy to play in while we waited for them to come off the ride.

It was now nearly time for our 1.00pm ADR at Crystal Palace so we grabbed some fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain and headed back round to Crystal Palace.

We checked in and had to wait about 15 minutes for our table before being seated. We got to meet:
Pooh

Tigger

Eeyore

& Piglet

The food was lovely and we enjoyed the very nice buffet. The boys really enjoyed it in here and liked being able to go and help themselves with food from the buffet.

We were in here for nearly two hours as it was about 14.50 when we got out and the parade was about to start. We managed to cross over into Fantasyland and avoid the parade as we planned on watching this next week.

We headed for It’s a small world which had a 10 minute wait and the boys enjoyed as much as they did at Disneyland Paris.

Then we headed round to Ariel’s Grotto to queue up to meet Ariel.

I don’t know if it had warmed up a bit or if we were just in a sun trap but I remember it being hot in the queue.

We must have queued for about 20 minutes for this but we had to do it since Tommy loves the Little Mermaid so much! They were both quite shy when they did meet her though!

We headed to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride but it was showing a wait time of 20 minutes so we grabbed some fastpasses. The machine also gave us some fastpasses for Mickey’s Philharmagic so we decided to go and do this while we waited. We absolutely loved this 3D show. Freddie was leaping up trying to grab things and Tommy was in heaven with Peter Pan & Little Mermaid in the same show!

It wasn’t time yet for the Winnie the Pooh ride so we decided to skip this and head to Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

We rode on the Barnstormer of Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm and had a look around both Minnie & Mickey’s houses.

It was Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party tonight which we weren’t going to but it meant that loads of people in the park were in costumes. We saw an excellent family who were dressed as the Incredibles. There was the Mum, Dad, Son, Daughter and they even had a Baby Jack Jack !

It was now about 17.30 and time for us too leave as we were starting to tire now. We never did get to use our Big Thunder Mountain or Winnie the Pooh fastpasses.

Tommy fell asleep in his buggy on the walk back up Main Street. We got the monorail back to the Ticket & Transportation Centre and the tram back to the car park (Tommy slept through buggy, monorail, buggy, tram, buggy, car) and back to the hotel.
We headed to the Food Court for some tea before having an early night. Kev and I had the Chicken Penne Alfredo which I thoroughly enjoyed. Freddie had a Cheeseburger and Tommy had Pizza.
