First we needed some breakfast so decided on a visit to IHOP. Freddie had the “Create a face Pancake”, Tommy had the Rooty Jr. Kev had some combo platter thing which included Cinnamon Apple Pancakes. I had a Combo which had buttermilk pancakes. This was delicious and we will definitely visit here again!
We then headed up to Florida Mall to do a bit of shopping. We had promised Freddie we would go to Build a Bear (we don’t have one in the Isle of Man) to get “Maurice” some PJ’s and a Spiderman outfit!
Kev got some clothes in JC Penneys and I got a pair of Jeans in Old Navy. I also got some nice zip up tops from Gap for the boys which were in the sale. It was proving to be quite expensive to shop with the exchange rate being so poor so we didn’t go mad!
On heading back to the car we decided that it was warm enough to give Blizzard Beach a go so headed there straight from Florida Mall.
The car park at Blizzard Beach was practically empty! There was maybe 10-15 cars there. It was so quiet in there and you could tell that there were only brits that were mad enough to go in this cooler weather!
The boys had a go in Tike’s Peak where the water was really warm.
Then we decided to have a go in the Cross Country Creek which was very quiet (and the water was cold!!). I had Tommy on my knee and Kev took Freddie. Getting in and out was interesting!
We rode the river round to Lottawatta lodge where we had a bit of lunch as the boys were getting hungry by now! We had a couple of Counter Service meals between us all. I think we had Fish and Chips and we all liked it.
We headed up the chairlift and all had a go on Teamboat Springs which was great fun!
We then played in the Ski Patrol area where the boys had a great time going down the slides in the tubes and with no queues at all.
It was getting late now so we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our dinner at California Grill at 6.10pm.
I wasn’t happy to drive over here yet so we decided to try out the buses so that Kev could have a drink. We got the bus to Magic Kingdom and then got the monorail to the Contemporary (I’m sure it would have been quicker to walk by the time we walked all the way over to the monorail from the bus but we didn’t want to get lost!)
We headed up in the lift and got ourselves checked in. We were escorted up in the lift and got ourselves a drink at the bar. We were quickly seated and although we weren’t by the windows it was nice to be able to watch them working in the kitchen.
We felt that the timing of our reservation was just right as we got to watch the sun setting and then just after our deserts the Wishes fireworks.
We chose the Roasted Chicken with Applewood Bacon Flatbread as a starter (not included in the Dining Plan):
We both chose the Oak Fired Filet of Beef for our main:
Freddie had the Grilled Chicken Breast from the Kids Menu:
Tommy had the Oak Fired Rib Steak from the Kids Menu (he is a big meat eater for a little boy!):
For desert I had the Valrhona Choclate Cake with Molten Centre which I think came with a Raspberry Ice Cream:
Kev had the Chocolate Temptation Pyramid:
Tommy had the Ice Cream & Fudge Sauce:
Freddie had the Chocolate Pudding:
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The steak was the best we had both ever had and the boys were very well behaved. We finished our meal just in time to head out to the viewing balcony to watch the fireworks.
We got the monorail back to Magic Kingdom and then had to queue for a while for the bus back to Pop Century but then 3 buses all came at once which made the queue go very quickly.
