We arrived at Animal Kingdom Car Park Entrance at 7.30am and it wasn’t open yet!
We eventually were allowed into the car park and headed over to the entrance. For some reason we managed to get our park tickets muddled up so I used Kev’s card and he used mine which meant our finger prints were stored on the wrong card so we have to remember to use the wrong ticket each time we visit a park!
We got side tracked getting our first photopass photos taken by the photographer on the way into the park (I will add the photopass photos separately) and arrived at Tusker House at 8.15am.
We were soon seated and served with some Jungle Juice! Donald, Daisy, Goofy & Micky visited our table while we enjoyed a delicious breakfast which I don’t seem to have managed to take any photos of!

After breakfast we headed for the Kilimanjaro Safari ride which was showing a 20 minute wait but was actually much less.
We all really enjoyed this and got some good photos of the animals. It was great to see the hippos although I don’t think the boys managed to spot them lurking in the water!
The baby giraffe crossed the road right behind our truck.
Next we did the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail where we saw various different animals & birds but the best were the gorillas:
I then headed to Expedition Everest to get some fast passes for Kev & I while Kev waited with the boys by the entrance to the Kali River Rapids. We then all four of us went onto the Kali River Rapids. It was great fun but we got absolutely drenched!
Freddie then decided he wasn’t quite wet enough and he would play in the fountains!
It wasn’t quite time for our fast passes for Everest so we headed over to the Finding Nemo Musical as there was one just about to start at 11.30am. It was a really good show and we all enjoyed it. The only downside was sitting in an air conditioned theatre with wet clothes (and a wet child on your knee!).
It was now time for Expedition Everest. The boys aren’t big enough for this so we did it one at a time using our fast passes. I went first and loved it! It turned out to be one of my favourite rides of the holiday. Kev went next and he also loved it.
We headed into Discovery Island and noticed that Winnie the Pooh were due at the Character Greeting area at 1.00pm (it was about 12.50pm) so we got in the queue and waited.
When the queue opened up we walked through the line and then got to meet Pooh, Eeyore & Tigger with very little queue in front of us. We got some photopass photos taken with them all (to be added later). When we left the queue was much longer so it was a good move to do this when we did.
We then headed to Flame Tree Barbecue for some lunch. I had to queue for ages and they were so slow serving but it was well worth it! I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, Kev had the Beef sandwich and the boys had a Kids Hotdog meal between them. The pulled pork & beef were both delicious.
We then decided to do “It’s tough to be a bug!” as our last thing in the park before calling it a day. This was our first 3D experience and thought it was very good although Freddie didn’t like the spiders and Tommy refused to wear his glasses!
We headed back out of the park and walked back to our car.
Then we headed to Walmart which of course we got lost on route! Got there eventually! We managed not to go too mad and just bought a few bits and pieces. Important item being beer for Kev!
We headed back to the hotel and took a few photos around and about before heading for dinner in the Food Court.
I think Freddie had a Cheeseburger meal, Tommy & Kev had Brocoli & Beef with Rice & I had a Veggie Noodles but I can’t remember for sure and didn’t take any photos of the food!
It was then bedtime for us all after a busy first day at about 8.30pm!
